17.-19.7.2020 Curly Weekend
This summer’s Curly Camp – the highlight of the Curly calendar – will take place in Kaarina, near Turku, at Tuorla Guesthouse, Tuorlantie 1 E, 21500 Kaarina.
You will be housed in Tuorla Agricultural College students’ halls, either in single or double rooms, with shared showers, toilets, kitchens and common rooms. Dogs are welcome in the halls, as long as they stay off the beds. Breakfast and bed linen are included in the price. The accommodation is available from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th July 2020.
We operate a ‘first come, first served’ arrangement, so please make sure you reserve your room as soon as possible. Please note also, the price for the night does not include meals other than breakfast. You must therefore order other meals separately on your registration form. Please make sure you notify us of any dietary requirements.
When registering, please notify us of any requests of room share with other guests, or your wish to stay in a hall with a particular group of participants. This will help the organisers in allocating accommodation.
The main arena for the camp activities will be a marquee set up on the football ground.
Friday: Rally-obedience, nose work, show and grooming training. You will be able to attend two training sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These sessions are suitable for both beginners and more experienced dogs and handlers. Each programme will be tailored to suit each group, so there is no need for specific knowledge of those disciplines, and your dog will not need prior training.
Saturday: The Official Speciality Show of Curly Coated Retrievers takes place on Saturday. Apart from official classes, this show will also have classes for puppies aged 5-7 months and 7-9 months and a progeny class. A pet class will also be included in this year’s show programme. Mr Frank Kane from Great Britain will be the judge, and Marjo Jaakkola will be the reserve judge for all classes.
You can register for Saturday’s show online via Showlink or by filling in the Finnish Kennel Association’s form.
Saturday evening will include prize presentation and general socializing.
Sunday: Sunday’s programme will consist of field training and blood tracking training. Blood tracking training will first have a short theory part and then some training in practice.
Field training has always been part of the Curly Camp programme, so this year, too. The training will take place in groups, according to the experience of the handlers and their dogs. This training is therefore suitable to both beginners and more experienced competitors. In the beginners’ group your dog is not required to know how to retrieve or hold a dummy in his mouth in order to take part in this activity.
Please note, at the moment, the timetable is only a preliminary one, and we reserve the right to change it. You will find updates of the timetable on the Curly Club website.
Registration should be made using an entry form on our website, no later than 22nd June 2020. Registration will open on 2nd March 2020.
Payments should be made into the Finnish Curly Club's bank account: Kiharakerho ry, FI61 5319 0420 1323 05, ref 2150, no later than 22nd June 2020.
Those attending the camp will receive a letter a week before the camp starts. The letter will include more detailed information about the timetable and accommodation at the camp.
